Harmony was doomed from the start. The only reason it lasted so long is due to the deep pockets of the owner.
The only way you'll see more viable competition in Canada, is if the government opens up the industry to allow foreign airlines to fly point-to-point within Canada. And this would only happen if the foreign governments allowed Canadian airlines to also fly in their markets- and at this point that is nowhere near to happening, although it may one day happen with the U.S.
