Hi, certainly if you have the money, it is posible to get a private charterfrom Mfuwe to Lilongwe, and then on to the lake. Nyasa Air taxis http://nyassa.mw/ of Blantyre will do this. It is also posible to do a transfer by road, but there is no direct road service, you would have to get to Chipata, a taxi to the border, and a sevice bus to Lilongwe.

its a pretty straightforward route by road minibus from Mfuwe to Chipata, share taxi to the border bus to Lilongwe, then on to Monkey bay (via mangochi), or Nkhata bay (via mzuzu). I was there 3 months ago and the minibus to Chipata was leaving Mfuwe at 1am!!

As said above you can charter a flight if you have the money, otherwise there are occasional flights taking groups from Lilongwe that may have return seats, don't know where your staying but Jess at flatdogs is a good person to ask about these sort of flights.

Hi There,

from SLNP to Chipata you can also rent a taxi, I think it should cost about 100usd for the whole car, so if you are travelling in a small group it is not too expensive.. You can try and ask at Dean's Lodge, he organizes this kind of things.
From Chipata to Lilongwe, you can once again hire a private taxi (we did for 20 usd each) or take a shared taxi to the border, then to Mjinchj and from there minibus to Lilongwe. If you go by public transport it should take approx 4/5 hours.
