Hello everyone :)

I am trying to find a decently safe and reliable transport from Lusaka to Dar Es Salaam.

The only thing I've been able to come up with would leave me in Kapiri Mposhi for a few nights, which I would like to avoid. If this isn't possible, though, I'd love some suggestions for a relatively decent place to stay in Kapiri Mposhi for several nights.

If you can, please provice website links as this makes things much easier to sort through!

Thank you for all your help.

When are you going? Which month?

Any reason why you're ruling out flying?
Zambezi Airways are pretty cheap- I flew Lusaka-Dar last year for $165.

Use the Tazara train. First class is reasonably safe and secure and pretty cheap (237,000 kwacha). Get the bus from Lusaka to Kapiri Mposhi in the morning before the train leaves so that you don't have to stay in Kapiri. Mazahandu family bus are reliable and they drive safe.

The train is an awesome trip, I did it only a few weeks ago and highly recommended, also you will meet other travellers and very friendly Zambians and Tanzanians.
