Hello all,

I am wondering if anyone knows the transport options out of Livingstone. I want to visit Malawi from Namibia using public transport and want to travel fast (yeah, I know that that is a contradiction...public transport; fast). To make the most of my time I would like to take night buses wherever possible. Is there a night bus between Livingstone and Lusaka? Lusaka to Chipata? I have looked for bus schedules on-line but can't find anything.

Thanks in advance!

There is buses between Livingstone and Lusaka. Buses leaves at about 6am and latest at 2pm. The times vary each day and tickets should be booked the day before. The best is to go to the bus station and ask once you're there. the cost will be about $20pp

Hi
One option if you have $50 to $60 to spend is to get a standby flight on proflight from Livingstone to Lusaka.www.proflight-zambia.com ( check availability on line), but dont book...you need to get to the airport about 3 hours before the flight and pay $55 and wait to see if you get on. At this time of the year there are usually seats available. I know that there are buses from Livingstone to Lusaka...not sure of times. Lusaka to Chipata buses run through the day , but by far the best is to get to the bus station by 5am unless you want to spend hours waiting. The stand by flights are available on all domestic routes so you might like to come up to South Luangwa en route.
If you do ever get to Mfuwe look us up we have a backpackers dorm...the only one in the area. www.marulalodgezambia.com
Hope this is useful...enjoy Zambia and Malawi!!
cheers
Jenny
