Has anyone done the Kasesha border crossing (Tanz-Zam) recently? I'm most interested in finding out if I can get a Zambian visa at the border. On the phone, the HC in Dar thought so but it'll be an expensive mistake to make if I have to re-enter Tanzania moments after leaving. Any tips on public transport here will also be appreciated!

Kasesha?

Is that the one close to Sumbawanga? According to T4A: Zam Imm at Mbala, customs at Mpulungu

Yep, close to Sumbawunga. T4A?
Mbala is the first town on the Zam side but Mpulunga is a further North and a lake port

Sorry, south of Sumbawanga...

T4A = Tracks for Africa

So by the sound of it you can cross there but you'll have to go to Mbala for your visa and clear customs at Mpulungu...bit of a schlep but manageable. Any particular reason you want to avoid Tunduma?

Not avoiding Tunduma. I just happen to be coming down from Mpanda and this is the closest crossing, plus the waterfalls near Mbala/Mpulungu sound good
