The Salvation Army Chaplains are transporting manual sewing machines to The SA Territorial HQ in Lusaka, Zambia along with sewing kits, fabric and educational materials. All of this is flown to Zambia free of charge courtesy of BA as a result of our contact with the company as Chaplains at Heathrow. Machines are fully serviced by a Rotarian engineer. In the last year they have sent 54 case loads (around 1270 kg). The territory have been able to establish training classes which are enabling people to find a livelihood and also have created a means of raising much needed funds for The SA work in Zambia.

Why am I telling you this?

Not because we want you to know what we are doing, but because we feel that somewhere out there are people who are travelling from Heathrow to Lusaka with BA on business or on holiday...!

BA give us up to four extra checked-in bags (23 kg each) for every passenger we identify!

The system is simple....
We make all arrangements with BA and Zambia SA
We then meet the passenger(s) at Heathrow
Hand over and check the contents of project cases with the passenger
Help them check in then buy them a coffee!!!!
On arrival in Lusaka, an officer meets the passenger before they go through customs so that there is no difficulty at this point.
Project cases are taken to THQ in Lusaka for onward distribution.
Getting the goods out does not cost The SA or the passenger a penny!

At the moment we are not short of machines and other goods to send (although news of manual sewing machines would be welcome) - its passengers that we need!

Can you help please?

I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you!

If you know anyone who may be able to help, please forward this email

God bless
Sincerely yours

Do you have to be departing from Heathrow to do this or can you be in transit and then add these bags to your existing luggage?
