4 of us are heading to Zambia in March just to go and see Victoria Falls. At this point i'm trying to see what options for transport we have. Most likely we will be flying into Lusaka from Dar as that seems to be the cheapest option. From what I have read train will be too slow and flights to Livingstone fairly expensive. So that leaves the bus. Is it possible to hire a car with driver from Lusaka airport and be driven to Livingstone directly? Has anyone on here had experience with this, or with prices to do this? Thanks.

I dont know about hiring a car and driver, but there are some very nice buses heading that way for resonable rates.

Just got back from Zambia a couple weeks ago. We took the bus from Lusaka to Livingstone and back. It was about a 6 1/2 hour journey, and cost around $16 USD each way. We paid for the nicer "air-conditioned" bus, and it was very comfortable.
thanks for the info. bleuwater, do you know how often the ac buses leave? or a web site that has the bus timetables?

This is the bus company I was recommended and will be using this week:

Yes, that is the company we took. Our bus from Lusaka left around 6 or 6:30 a.m. I think, and we arrived around 12:30 into Livingstone. On the way back to Lusaka we took the 9:00 a.m. bus. I think the buses leave every half an hour, but keep in mind they are not all air-conditioned. The times we chose were for the ac buses.
