Hi fellow travellers,

in October (9 to 27) I will be in Zambia. I am now exploring some budget safari options but not succeeding. It tried chachacha/river safari company, but they tell me there are no options available since I am the only one applying. Does anyone have tips for other companies. Or maybe you are there too and would like to share... Please let me know.

Hi There,

I can advise on the South Lwangua NP. The cheapest option is Jackalberry Safari www.jackalberrysafaris.net, it is not cheap, but it is the less expensive. Write directly to Gavin the owner he is a nice guy and you can arrange with him your preferred option. I took a 3 day safari with them and it was basic but very very nice and fun. Make sure you don't miss the walking safari, it is more expensive but it is totally worth it

have fun

It's relatively easy to do South Luangwa independently you can fly or take a minibus to Mfuwe and arrange a transfer to one of the cheaper lodges such as flatdogs or wildlife camp, I thi9nk the current rates at flatdogs are around $40 per night in a standard safari tent then you chose which activities to do (morning drive, evening drive, walking safari) all are around $40 to $50 each. Food in the park is pretty pricey, but of good quality.

I think that the other parks are more difficult to do independently and thus more expensive.
