Greetings! I will be in Uganda most of November, but with probably only enough time for one park - either Murchison Falls or Queen Elizabeth. I especially like elephants, giraffes, and hippos. In which park am I likely to see the most of these? Any difference in the entry fees? And, is the rainy season short hard rainfall & then the sun comes out, or all day drenchings? Thanks a lot.
Hi there,
We are planning a 9-days trip to Uganda (25 oct. to 03 nov.), we are a family of 2 adults and 2 kids (ages 9 & 7). We are thinking to spend three days at Murchison Falls park and then head for three days to a nice island in Lake Victoria to relax, before ending our trip in Kampala.
I would appreciate to receive ideas and suggestions on which island to select: we are interesting to beautiful beaches suitable for swiming, and something of good value for money.
Thanks in advance
Going to Uganda first two weeks of November I will be starting southwest then moving north, now I no it's raining season but what does that mean is it o.k to camp, hike and travel in parts on my mountain bike or is it just washed out
Thanks for any help
Hi
I am planning my itinerary for my trip to Africa February 2014. Part of the trip is gorilla trekking in Uganda, where I have to book permits in advance.
Since we will probably just be in Uganda for 4-5 days, we will do the gorilla trekking with an operator, even though we normally just travel by public means. But it is quite difficult to judge what is best. They all have different opinions about the best groups etc. Some say that we will see lots of wild life on the way, while others say…
Hi
This is probably the wrong forum, but I've just moved to Uganda to work (I am Irish but have a work permit) and have been told my small box of used items may incur import tax. (I sent it by air through a courier company). Does anyone have experience of this? How much is it likely to be?
Many thanks
Alice

We're trying to see primates and unique wildlife in 20 days -- our typical US vacation length =(. Almost all of this would be travelled by public transportation (except for the Bwindi/gorillas portion, from Lake Bunyonyi). Can you let me know if this seems feasible, or what you might adjust?
Day 1: depart Calif. USA
2: arrive Entebbe
3: Kampala
4: Kampala/Entebbe
5: Kampala to Fort Portal
6: Fort Portal
7: Kibale/Chimp Habituation
8: Crater Lakes hike
9: Fort Portal to Lake Bunyonyi
10: Lake…
I have the opportunity to accompany my partner to Uganda this coming winter for a conference in Kampala and also hope to go on a "gorilla" safari for a few days; so just wondering how to get a fair assessment of safety for Americans in Uganda - with so much coverage of the attacks in Kenya, do I paint Uganda with the same brush?
Hello,
Last year on departure from Zanzibar, we were struck with a sudden Departure Tax, that wasnt even indicated even on the Airline Ticket/Website, lucky enough we still had some money with us ($48/Person including our 5 year old).
Just wondering if this same tax is still levied on departures, and is it the same case with Main land Tanzania?
Just need to be ready sure this time round before i land there early November.
Hi Guys
Help appreciated here - I want to hike the Rwenzori Mts its the main thing I want to do in Uganda. I estimate a 7/8 day return. Any tips on guides, hostels from which to find fellow hikers, cost of the hike. I will do the Gorillas on another trip but would appreciate if anyone has any other tips for Uganda.
Oh and can you get a visa on arrival?
Thanks Janet
