Hi everyone,

It seems that if you try to do a Gorilla trecking tour in Uganda as a single, you pay for a double! Bummer as I'm going alone!!!!

So........Does anyone want to come on a three or four day (four day one includes a 'volcanoe day tour') tour with me starting between 13th and 25th December and departing from Kampala? I have found an operator who has quoted me the very reasonable price of US$690 each (if you've got two people) + US$500 for the permit.

Thanks

Hi,

We are heading to Uganda in October. We have our own transport and want to find out how we buy Gorilla trekking permits for Bwindi without going through a tour operator?? Anyone have any ideas?

I have tried going on to the Uganda Wildlife website but not working...

Can this be done from outside country or can you only buy when you arrive in Kampala??

Any help would be great!

My friends and I are contemplating climbing the Rwenzoris for our 50th birthday. 10 years ago we climbed Kilimanjaro. We don't have any technical climbing experience, but are all in good shape. Does anyone know if this is a doable climb for us? If so, can you recommend an outfitter to go with. And, finally, how safe is that part of Uganda these days.

Thanks so much.

I can't seem to find any information in regards to visas issued on arrival at land border crossings,
from Rwanda into Uganda.
Has anyone done this recently and know if you can get a visa at the border between Kinigi and Kabale
or Queen Elizabeth NP, or in that region, as I can't work out exactly where the border is from the maps.
I would assume you can't as it wouldn't be as organized as the crossing between say Kenya and Tanzania, but want to check just in case?
Thank you!!

Hello

I'm heading to Uganda for work in November and would like to take a few days to do some touring. I would love some feedback and reliable current information about any organized excursion to visit the gorillas and/or possibly some trekking.

Input on safety and security situation also welcome

I'll be staying in Kampala aside from this short stint.

Any other suggestions welcome too! Thanks

Pamela

Hello, no luck answering this from a search so thought i'd start a new thread:

I'm flying into Nairobi and getting the bus to Uganda. Three weeks in Uganda, two of which will be working in a children's home. Then back to Nairobi for flight.

I'm a bit confused about Yellow Fever requirements. I know both Kenya and Uganda are yellow fever zones but am confused about whether I need a certificate to enter the countries, or only to enter the countries from another yellow fever country.

If the…

Hi all,

I just want to warn people about travelling to Bulago island on Lake Victoria, Kampala. There IS bilharzia and malaria on the island, despite what the owners say, so please do take care. They declare the island to be malaria-free, although their own daughter died in 2006 of cerebral malaria. DONT swim in the lake - you almost certainly will get sleeping sickness which has no immediate symtoms but if you dont know you have it, can lead to severe mental and physical problems later in…

Has anyone stayed at the Blue Mango hotel in Kampala? I read somewhere that its name has been changed to 'The Hideaway'. I looked up the website listed in the LP Africa book, but I couldn't find the site.
We are looking for mid range acomodations in Kampala, preferably with a pool to relax by. If you haven't stayed at the Blue Mango, do you have any recomendations for another place?
