we will spend 2 days in Uganda
one day we will spend for the white water rafting with NRE and stay in Jinja after the action
but we have not decided what to do in the next day...

previously we planned to go to the Ngamba Island
but since it was too expensive (USD 126 per person for 2 pax), we cancelled it...

maybe we will book a taxi from Jinja and go around.... but where?! :)

Has anyone used this company and if so what was your experience? They have been great so far but I did read a post that said don't use them but no explanation as to why or what happened. This is our first trip to Africa and we want to choose a good company.

Are ATMs in Uganda reliable and easy to find in the big cities/airport.. i would like to use a Visa debit card.

Also, can i easily get the appropriate malaria pills on arrival and over the counter....just asking cause my doctor here in the UK no longer does prescriptions for them.. I have to go to a private clinic he says at great expense. Hmm...not happy about that

Thanks

Hello !

Does anyone has experience with exchanging traveller cheques (AMEXCO US$) in Uganda without the proof of purchase ?

I never had to produce my proof of purchase from my bank in Germany in any part in the world except this year in Ethiopia. Only one bank (Dashen Bank) was willing to exchange the cheques without the proof.

I still have a couple of AMEXCO-cheques (US$) left for my next trip to Uganda but I can't find the proof of purchase anymore. I'm thankful for any recommendations and…

could you please recommend us some good options for rafting on Nile? Is it really worth it comparing other world rafting places? Do you know some operators who orginaze this?
Thanks?

Hi, planning on going to QENP for 4-5 days over Christmas. We'll be driving up from Rwanda and have our own 4x4. Has anyone stayed at either Jacana Safari Lodge, Katara Lodge or Ishasha Wilderness Camp? Thinking of splitting nights between two of them and interested in any thoughts. We don't fancy Mweya Safari Lodge despite the location, and don't want to pack camping gear.

thanks

Hi again!
Looking for advice:
If you have 12 days to spend around Kenya and Uganda over the Xmas new year break where would you head?

We will be starting from nairobi and are interested in the wildlife, people, coast and the lakes of Kenya and Uganda.
We are already visiting the gorrillas throug Rwanda so had not planned to head to far west/south of Uganda

My fiance and i had hoped to travel this stretch on our own.
is this safe? and what would you recommend as the best mode of transport, the best…

Hello, my name is Nancy and I' trying to create a budget for a five month stay in Uganda in the spring of 2009. Can anyone tell me how much it costs to rent a simple, but decent and comfortable lodging for that length of time? Are utilities included in rents or do they run extra--and how much extra? How much is a cell phone and how much are local calls per minute? How much would it be to have internet service hooked up (or is that possible?) and how much would the monthly bill run? Or…

Dear friends,

We are a group of 4 people planning a tour around Uganda for the next Christmas holidays (in fact we have already booked our flights).

We are considering two itineraries (detailed below) all them shaped according to the availability of permits to track the gorillas in Rwanda (It seems that they have ran out of permits for the 29th of December or later). In one of them we spend two days visiting Ssese islands (one day travelling and one day staying there) while in the other we…

On a recent trip to Uganda we did a wonderful guided 3 day walk to Buhoma (from Kisoro) which is something we would highly recommend to people visiting this area.

Taking a couple of days to walk into Bwindi from Kisoro is a fantastic experience and enables you to see and experience so much more of this special region than if you are shuttled in by vehicle, as most visitors are. Some of the experiences that will remain with us include: walking through amazingly picturesque farming villages…
