We are staying in a village NE of Mbale for 2 months and were looking for some weekend excursions. We are very close to sipi falls, and were wondering if anyone had any recommendations for places to stay in the area. The two that we have looked into are sipi river lodge, which seems nice, but looks to be a bit out of our price range, and the crows nest, which we found through a guide book and are having trouble finding any more information about. If you have stayed at either of these places, or know something better, please let us know!

I loved the crows nest, i stayed there a few years ago, the hiking guides were great and there were lots of different walks to do. I was camping but the shared bunks seemed decent enough. it was certainly budget, but had great views of the falls and was in my opinion a fun place.

Lacam Lodge is a great place and is part-owned by a great guy, Robert, who has been guiding there for years, but the best views of the falls are from the Crown's Nest which is cheaper and very comfortable. I would stay there if you are on a budget. It probably fills up more at weekends since the road was paved a few years ago, but if it is full there are other places nearby.
