Hi there,

I am considering to visit Rwenzori NP and or climb 3rd highest peak in Africa even though I have climbed Mt Kilimanjaro last year. That is bcoz Rwenzori NP is UNESCO world heritage site. UNESCO says - The region's glaciers, waterfalls and lakes make it one of Africa's most beautiful alpine areas.

So which one offers good service ? Rwenzori Trekking Services or Rwenzori Mountaineering services ? Surprisingly both of them have offered me different rates for same number of days.

Also will November be appropriate season to climb or at least visit NP ? Can I rent some gear from them ?

Thank you in advance.

Hi, that's exactly the question I would like answered. I sent an e - mail to Rwenzori Trekking Services to enquire, and they replied promptly and it all seems legitimate. I think they have a tie up or are owned by the Backpackers Hostel in Kampala.

I asked about September, I think it is going to be wet whatever time you visit though!

Looking forward to some more answers, have fun planning your trip.

Hi,

I also plan to visit this NP for a trek in Nov and having the same questions.
Can you please send me the proposed itineraries and prices to yossile@me.com?
If the dates match we can also join up although I didn't plan to climb a peak there.

Enjoy.

Hi there, with Rwenzori Mountaineering Services, you are assured of the best service on Africa's best trail for 2012 (the central circuit was voted 9th best in the world and therefore Africa's best). You spent cool nights is wooden cabins rather than tarpaulin bandas and enjoy a real circuit. After trying both, you can judge where value for money is. With RMS, your pay goes to the community

In January 2014 we did the Margherita peak via Kilembe with RTS and enjoyed all 8 days. It is an amazing tour due to the strange vegetation. We fully recommend RTS: very friendly people, good food and professional organized accomodation.
