Hi everyone,

I just wanted to find out if the white-water rafting in Jinja is still going - and if so is it any good? There were some posts at the end of last year stating that due to a dam, it was now finished. But that the companies were looking for fresh routes or something?

Does anyone have some recent info on this? Oh - and how much does it cost for a day or 2 on the river?

Thanks a million
Dave

yeah its still going but no where near as good as it used to be. Think the cost is still the same, around $130 for the 'one day' trip which is usually over by 2-3pm

I did it 2 weeks ago with Nile river explorers. It was $125 pp, no matter what group size. That included food and beers afterwards.
I don't know what it was like before but it was awsome, practically all grade 5 rapids. The campsite at Bujagali is pretty cool also.

Yes, all still running trips. Nalubale is a great compamy.. smaller than the big ones so much more fun for the day. You don't feel like you are on a conveyor belt. They also partner with The River Camp which is a beautiful spot on the Nile, hot showers, very clean and a pool. Nalubale give you a free night as part of the raft deal.I alos heard that have opened up a tea house as start point of trip. Excellent.

I was in Jinja a few years back and there seemed to be a lot of people offering rafting, but many locals told us about safety concerns, so I'd always check out the company you go with....enjoy your trip though - Jinja's amazing!! :D

You will have to drive downstream an hour or so to find other rapids at kalagala, etc. Of course the experiences are now different. The former Bujagali Falls is now and Bujagali Lake!

What is the average age of people rafting? We are 56 and have done a little bit of rafting in the past. Do you need experience and is it safe?
