Hi there!

We are two students leaving soon to Uganda and would like to visit the Murchinson Falls Natural Park.

Our budget is however -very- tight, so we would prefer a 'do it yourself' visit rather than a tour (already prepared a list of all the costs and that's the only way to do all we wish). We were however wondering if it is easy to find a vehicule with driver in Masindi? And how we could find one?

We both already have experience of backpacking in Africa, India, China, etc.

Either ask at your hotel or at the UWA office in Masindi.

I have been to Murchinson on 5 occasions, always doing it myself by staying in Masindi. I can really recommend Karibuni guesthouse across from the market (25000 shilling for a double with hot water last summer), really friendly staff.
The last couple of times we have used Yebo tours for vehicle hire - 4WD with two seats on the roof (great fun) at 70 USD Per day without fuel. I really dó recommend a 4WD and not a salon car if you want to see anything. If you do take a salon car then Moses at the New Court View Hotel is a great guy but the rates are a little inflated but still cheaper per day than Yebo and fuel costs are lower.
With Yebo we spent 150000 shillings on fuel which included going up and back from Murchinson, game drive and going back and forth from Ziwa.
