There is a great new camp spot called Lubega’s Camp Site, located only 5km south of Kibale National Park Entrance in the village of Cabakwerere. Look for the sign just before Nkingo village and Safari Hotel. The cook/owner (formerly owned Safari Hotel) is named Charles and is one of the nicest men you will meet in Uganda, not to mention he fixes amazing meals. His chicken in red wine sauce and pineapple pie baked in suitcase oven are to die for. You will no doubt also be welcomed by Charles’ wife Florah who will serve you tea, put on some music and bring you hot water for a shower. If you want a real African experience, you can even have dinner with him and his family. Costs are only 10000 shillings per person which includes a full breakfast and free laundry service.
To get there from Fort Portal; take Fort Portal-Kamwenge Road until you pass Kibale NP entrance, about 5km further south of Kibale you will see the sign/turn off on your left.

Thamks for the info - its always good to hear about small places run by locals - where tourists and volunteers alike can begin to help village communities to educate themselves and enhance their health and well-being.
We in the west do not at first understand how much we can teach villagers by just being around and offering the odd suggestion. Please always do offer advice when you see something that could be done in a better way.
Do they yet have any bandas at Lubegas - or must you have your own tent and sleep on the ground?
