I prefer the smaller places as well and I have chosen to live in a small town. That being said I do enjoy visiting larger cities just not living there. In addition to the life of a larger city (I really like theatre so maybe I will try to catch a play in kampala) there is also a sense of satisfaction in learning in some small degree how to navigate a new and strange to you city. I also kind of figure that if I am going to see and experience Uganda then much of the life of Uganda is in Kampala given that so many people in Africa and elsewhere are increasingly urban.

Of course if I try it and don't like I can look elsewhere for my experiences of Uganda

I really look forward to visiting Uganda and Kampala. I am interested in the rural Uganda and plan to trek in the Rwenzori but with so many people in Uganda and other countries moving to the cities I think that if I only see the rural areas then I won't have seen Uganda!
