Hi there,
we will be 4 person traveling in February Uganda/Rwanda.
We think about renting a car with or without a driver. Maybe with a driver is better as he could be our guide too. We want to make it not very expensive.
Any suggestions, contacts for private drivers and cheap rent a car will be nice.
Thank you in advance
Yurek.

Hi there,
Car with a driver is a good decision especially to cut cost on guides, most drivers are good guides.I have friends who just returned from Africa, they used a guy called James who has a line of tour cars, however they had Christine his female driver as their driver and only have Christine's number.I guess you can get to James thru Christine, they recommended him so Christine's number is 0788021254.
All the best

Yurek -

Private hire in general will cost you about Sh. 120,000 for driver per day gasoline for car. That includes driver taking care of his food/accommodations. Private hire works out the best for round-trips and trips where there is no direct bus traffic. We paid $280 for one way travel for 3 guys from Kampala to Kasese on the first day upon arriving in Uganda and in retrospect it would have been way cheaper to take the bus to Kasese for $30 instead $30 airport transfer total. However later we made a trip to Murchinson Falls and without a private hire (Rogers rogermasaba@yahoo.com) we would have paid significantly more and seen less.

Cheers,
Santis
