I am currently in Kenya and in the next few days i want to travel to uganda, then on to rwanda. After about 2 weeks i'll return to kenya by travelling through Uganda. I'm a british citizen (student) so what should i expect to pay for visas? I heard that rwanda has now become part of the east african something-or-other so does that mean that i won't have to buy another Ugandan and Kenyan visa when i return from rwanda? Sorry if the questions are confusing but i'm CONFUSED! Help! Does anyone have first hand, recent experience of this? Many thanks

Yes
They are all part of the EA visa agreement so you can cross between them on the one visa per country. I presume you bought a 90 day single entry visa in Kenya ($50) which will be good for all entries in that 90 days, buy a similar visa on entry to Uganda (single visa, can't remember how much) and visa on entry to Rwanda - free for British passport holders - and away you go. As long as you don't leave Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda you can come and go across the borders as many times as you like for the period each visa is valid without having to buy a new one.
Hi, just to update...I am back in Kenya now. When i left rwanda and re-entered Uganda I was told to pay for another visa. The immigration officials denied that rwanda was now part of this east africa visa agreement, and therefore since i entered on a single entry visa I had to pay for another visa if i wanted to enter uganda again. They said that instead i should have bought a $200 multiple entry visa instead...what a rip off!!! I spent a long time discussing this with them but ultimately i didn't have a choice (my bus was leaving) so i payed for a new visa to enter uganda ($50) where i was going to spend just one night on transit to Kenya. I have looked on the interenet for any conformation that rwanda is now part of this agreement but i haven't found any.
Interestingly when i entered kenya again i didn't have to pay for another visa, but i know for a fact that the immigration lady didn't see the page of my passport with the rwanda stamps.
I'm really not sure what they current situation is with this but I want to warn travellers to be prepared to pay for another visa when crossing at land borders. Ulitmately there's not much room for negotiation, especially if you are travelling by bus accross land borders...so be prepared! Either i was ripped off or the visa agreement is not yet in place.
