The Red Chilli Hideaway has just moved to Butabika which is a bit out of town (I work nearby) but in a peaceful spot with a pretty view. I haven't been there but the staff are nice. Its probably 25-30,000 Ugandan Shillings for a private cab to the centre of town if you want to do the expat bars/big shops/cinema etc (1000ish shillings for a shared taxi I'm not sure about boda-bodas I'm too scared to use them). i don't know how many other tourists will be there as its the rainy season.

Kruger national park in South Africa is one of the exciting place to spend holidays here all facilities available at less cost. Introduce yourself with wildlife at Maqueda Lodge.

I'd heard they were planning to move, but when told where, it's clear that it's a long way out.
Perhaps look for somewhere not so far, such as the Manhattan Guesthouse up by Namirembe or similar.

I recently stayed in a house in Ntinda I found on airbnb - not far from central Kampala, clean, nice area and reasonable nightly rate.
