gorilla-permits how long ahead of time possible?

During high seasons May-October
If you book your gorilla permits1year- 5 months in advance, you can get a gorilla permit for a group of your choice.
If you book 2 months, to your safari the chances of getting a preferred gorilla group are slim, that is if there are any gorilla permits still available.

During low seasons November-April
You can even get gorilla permits for your preferred gorilla family 3-1 month in advance.

I agree with katonatours, all you have to do is buy the gorilla permits 6 months in advance for high seasons, you will never go wrong.

Depending on how many permits you want, the 6 months standard shall work for the the months of Jun-Aug. If you want just one or two permits, forget about the hassle; 2 months will do. cheers

To echo the above commens, it definitely depends on which season you will be going. In my experience, it's fairly easy during the low seasons.

I was in Uganda from mid march until mid april. I went to get permits in march at their office in Kampala and had no problem getting permits for April for a group of 6 people. If I remember correctly, we did not have any say regarding which gorilla group we say, it was decided by the park operators.

I was in Kampala Aug 31st, and got 2 permits for Sep 5th. When I went to the park, there was one group with only 4 people (8 is the max). But I think I was lucky. It depends on the time of the year.
