I know this information is around the forum, but the situation also seems to have changed recently. What are the present options for travelling to Kalangala/Buggala from Kampala?

the only ways I know of are via Entebbe or Kasenyi.
Kasenyi is a small fishign village in between entebbe and kampala, and unless you know where you are going, it's tough. It's also not very safe: you get jamed in with 50+people on a wooden boat as well as livestock and the days catch.
Entebbe has a port and proper ship going back and forth multiple times a week. It's safe and run by the government.
