Hi,
I will soon be travellng to Uganda and expect to stay in Kampala for more than few weeks...so I have few question:
1) will I get a good rate of Uganda shillings if I carry GBP with me.....or should I change it to US$ instead
2)What is the most convenient way to find a small apartment in a safe locality
3)Are there any PG facilities available

Thanks

Hey,
Its fine to come with your Sterling than changing it to dollar you will lose some money as Uganda is colonized by British we recognize the pound.

Exchange rate for( 1 ONE )GBP to shillings is around 4000 Uganda shillings.

For the apartments in Uganda you can get as many as you want as long as you deal with trustworthy people,or you deal with the company than individual, In apartment facilities everything you want is available and as i talk now i have More than apartments i know in good places and safe where you just walk from to down town for your shopping.

Yes the pound works in Uganda.

I asked a similar question about money a couple of weeks ago. Based on the rates available then, it would not be a good idea to change sterling to dollars first.

Hey, am of the view that you carry both GBP and Dollars. The dollar is very unstable at the moment and keeps on fluctuating every minute. So one minute the exchange rate favors you the other minute it disfavors so the GBP can save you there. On the other hand the dollar can be accepted for payment in some places so it can as well save you in case there are no forex bureaus if you needed to spend.
