We were able to book a trip to Uganda to arrive in Entebbe. We have only 14 days in africa. We would like to see the gorillas but are concerned that it takes a day to get there and a day to get back. Is there any flight to get us closer to the parks where the gorillas are? For example, would it make sense to fly to Kigali instead and go from there instead of driving? We think we want to see Bwindi, but since this is in Uganda would it be faster to fly to Kigali and drive back into Uganda? Or just drive from Entebbe? Other ideas?

Also if we confine ourselves to Uganda to see gorilla's is there a particular park where they are more amazing than others? We actually prefer good hiking so that's not a concern.

Driving directly from Entebbe or Kampala to Bwindi will take you a minimum of 10 hours. This is the most cost effective way to reach Bwindi. Alternatively, you can catch a charter flight (C172) from Kajjansi Airstrip btw Entebbe and Kampala. This will take 1h50 BUT can be quite costly. One lands at an airstrip which is called Kayonza and it takes about 25 minutes to drive from here to the forest.
Trust me, its worth it to visit Bwindi - whichever way you choose to go.
If you drive, you can see the gorillas in 3 days, its rushed but can be done and worth every cent. Ideally you want to stay for one extra day just to enjoy a forest walk. Bwindi is so spectacular, the birding and plants breathtaking. Bwindi is your only option in Uganda as Magahinga no longer has gorillas. They have hopped the volacano and now live in Rwanda.
Uganda also offers amazing wildlife - Ishasha sector of the Queen Elizabeth National Park where you can get the chance to see heaps of Kob, Topi, buffalo and elephant and tree climbing lions or northern sector wher eyou can enjoy a boat ride along the shores of the Kazinga Chanel. Kibale National Park is great for chimp trekking and walking. There is so much to do, 10 days flies by.

Kigale to Ruhungeri (Musanze) is about a 2 hour drive. Either way, you will have to drive to reach the gorillas.

I am looking at something similar -- a few questions:
1) How do we inquire about the charter flight? Who runs it etc? Do you have contact info?
2) I see what the OP says, it seems like we could fly to Kigali and drive up to Bwindi faster than we could drive to Bwindi... is this a realistic idea?
