Hi everyone. I will be travelling to Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania and Ethiopia in late december to late march. I don't want to carry large amount of money. Are Atm's working in those countries? Should I carry travellers cheque? Are they easy to change?

Thanks for your advice!

There are plenty of ATMs in Kampala, Uganda. There is also a ForEx in Garden City (the shopping centre).

ATM's in Uganda (Barkley's in Kampala on Jinja Road). I cashed a few travelers cheques that I had just to get rid of them at a money changer adjacent to the old taxi park, rates were terrible for tc's everywhere so use the ATM's.

Ethiopia was totally a cash option for me, clean, new US dollars got the best rate. I don't think I even saw an ATM in Addis!

A long time since I was in Tanzania but tc's where the go then, not sure about now!

Enjoy and Cheers Spy
