Hi Everybody,

We are two people and will travel to Uganda in December for around 20 days, inclusive Kidepo N.P.
Does anybody know a cheap and good local travel agency who does not try to make a fortune? We have already written to so many agencies trough the internet and it seems that everybody thinks that all tourists who come to Uganda can afford everything they offer.
We ask for budget tours and they offer us the opposite.

Would be nice to get some ideas because we would like to book within the next days.

Thanks

Dodo

What is your budget?
If you have written to many agencies and all their tours are too expensive then perhaps your budget is unrealistic. Unfortunately, travel in Africa is not as cheap as many people expect.

have you tried:
pearl of africa, uganda travel bureau, and intektravel?

also:
uganda has cheap parks EXCEPT kidepo, that might be a reason as well

Hi Stokegirl,

I know what you mean but I can't be more expensive to book through Uganda then to Europe where we use the same agencies. Last one tried to charge me 88,00 USD / day for food and some luxery lodges as budget lodges. You know what I mean?

Take care

Hey. You know Uganda is a very easy country to get around independantly and would work out soooo much cheaper. If you want to be in places other than the National Parks there are plenty of public transport links and then you could just book onto a few exchursions for getting to the more remote National Park areas. Just an idea!

Hi Smallmasterr,

Thanks for your advices. I just finished to send my inquiries to them.
But it was not only Kidepo. Even for food and acomodation they ask for higher prices then you pay in a regular travel agency in Europe.

Hi Doris
Thanks for your email I am sure you will enjoy Uganda. I will probably be out there again til early in the New Year - maybe January - but am expecting a couple of volunters to be out there from October onwards. Maybe you can call on them when you are near Ntungamo/Mbarara and see how they are getting on?
Many Thankks
Ann

you can also try Edirisa Travels www.edirisa.org/travels. I did a canoe trek with them and it was unbelievable. Since then I know they've opened up a lot of other tours and I know they also do "Around Uganda" tours as well. Everything is locally-run by a combination of internationals and locals (both volunteers and paid staff) and they tailor everything for adventure and backpacker-type budget travelers. Also, they are a not for profit business trying to make a difference so your business is doing good. hope that helps!

Cheers!
