Hi all,

We're leaving for Uganda in2 weeks and I just want to know whats the best way to handle money? Should we carry US Dollars and then just withdraw Ug shillings over there? Is visa acceptable in alot of places or are ATMs readily available?

Any other advice?
thanks.

You won't be able to pay for things with a credit card, but you will be able to withdraw money from ATMs. It would be a good idea to bring some US currency as a source of backup funds.

If you're going out west (Kabale, for example), you will be happy to have something warm to wear, such as a fleece jacket. At night and in the early morning, it gets pretty chilly out there. I did not have anything warmer than a flannel shirt, and I felt uncomfortably cold at night.

Kampala and Jinja will still be quite warm during the day -- I'd expect high temps probably around 27-28 degrees centigrade, and 17-18 degrees at night.
