The Mabira Forest Lodge offers cottages and rooms for +$150pp through geolodgesafrica.com but I'm after contact details to be able to book a USh15,000 banda as advertised on Uganda Travel Planner but for which I can't find email or fax details.

Thanks
Sara

I stayed there 10 years ago when the bandas were relatively new and they were very comfortable. Try contacting the National Forestry Authority:

Thanks - in fact I heard back last night from "Ecotours Uganda [info@ecotoursuganda.com]" who seem to have contacts at Mabira (their office is apparently in Najjembe Trading Centre 10 kms from Lugazi on the main road).

A chap there called Robert is very helpful if anyone ever wants to book - for the record, he quoted me :

Entrance 10,000 x 2pp USh20,000

Banda double/twin USh20,000
Guiding 10,000 x 2pp USh20,000

but then had to tell me it was full for the dates I wanted! So, back to the drawing board

Thanks
Sara

If you really want to visit Mabira Forest you can easily do it as a day trip from either Jinja or Kampala. It's worth it for the trees and monkeys and snakes - although I didn't see any of the latter on three visits, I know people who saw massive snakes there.
