Hi,
I would like to fly from Entebbe to Nairobi on the morning flight to catch my afternoon flight from Nairobi (around end of July).

The 2 airlines are Air Uganda and Fly540. Can anyone tell me if:

  • they are reliable in terms of security (Fly540 in Angola is on the EU blacklist)

  • they are reliable in terms of schedule so that I don't miss my flight from Nairobi.

Are flights often simply completely cancelled because of bad weather, ... so I should fly a full day in advance?

Thanks, Mike

Entebbe to Nairobi is one of the world's most expensive routes

Fly540 Angola cannot be on the EU blacklist as they don't offer services to EU & is a separate franchise in relation to the Fly540 in E & W Africa

Flights anywhere can be delayed due to a variety of problems, US & EU included - but bad weather with heavy rains will be a major reason in Africa ...

Air Uganda are good, they're part of the Celesteair group owned by the Aga Khan ... but won't be any 'better' if there's a technical problem, including the weather!

Whatever you do, give yourself a few hours between your arrival & outbound international flight

The EU blacklist include many airlines that don't offer services to the EU and Fly540 Angola, as well as all the airlines certified by the Angolan authorities except some specific aircraft of TAAG, is among them.

I know the list, but worded it wrongly, the EASA ban for airlines entering the EU is 'different' in respect of what has been audited & what hasn't - I could write reams on the situation - such as LAM who have been included on the list, wrongly in my own opinion - but it's all political.

Again Senegal Airlines aren't on there, but yet the UN have banned their staff from flying them ... political motivation or?!??

Funny this has come up as I was writing a report about it last night to a very prominent member of the int'l aviation community!!

Book in advance just for a cheaper seat. Otherwise there are so many flights from Entebbe to Nairobi: Kenya Airways, African Airlines, etc

Finally, I flew on the same day. Plane was perfectly on time (Air Uganda).
Thanks
