Hi I arrive in Uganda 2 days before my travel partner. Looking for suggestions - low key is ok since I have been traveling a lot. We are already going rafting in Jinja at the end of our trip...

Should I go to Kampala, Ngamba island (I love primates) or something else.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks,

Monique

Try Red Chilli, a good backpackers to stay in Kampala, and they may be able to help with something to do while you wait.

You could head up to sipi falls for the weekend. Its a 4 hour drive from kampala to mbale and another 45 min from there, but on the best roads you'll find in the country so it's not too bad a trip. Sipi falls itself is very scenic, located up in the foothills of mt elgon. The falls are all pretty close together, and it is a great site to visit if you have limited time since everything can be seen in a day. We just spent a weekend there and it was very relaxing. The lodge we stayed at (sipi river lodge) was a little on the pricey side, but it was well worth it, simply for the hot showers alone. The food was good, although we did half board so we can comment on lunch, and the staff was very helpful and guided tours to all the falls. I was even able to go flyfishing, something I did not expect during my trip.

Enjoy your time in Uganda!

go to the island! you can take a steam boat form Entebbe to Ssese island... they have nice resorts, and if you want, you can hire a Boda Boda to take you around th eIsland for a day... or, go to Kasenyee. it's in between entebe and Kampala, but just south on the lake... Kasenyee's my favorite place ever... you can spend an entire afternoon hanging out...
from Kasenyee you can take local boats to all the nearby islands, and there's lots of easy accomodations on the islands, just ask around...
