Xmas ?????

I'm flying in to Nairobi late Xmas eve. I would like to do a short safari before beginning my trek. Will it be problematic finding something departing on Xmas day. Am I better to go straight to Arusha, or stay in Nairobi to find something???

No, Xmas is not just another day. Your best bet is to pre-book whatever else you want to do.

I was thinking this might be the case. Prebooking before I leave will mean I'll be charged a lot more (from what I hear). But if that means I'll get what I want and some form of guarentee to go...well so be it. Thanks heaps, cheers!!!

We went to Kenya last year for Xmas and booked most in advance. Our experience was that everything was pretty bookable anyway during Xmas and New Year. You might not get your first choice of day yout hotel, but there are still options available. The problem is that price increase enormously during this period. But it does help booking in advance. In short... it would not be a much bigger problem then normal booking you safari, but if you have to leave on a certain day, i would always pre-book.

Just to elaborate, Kenya is mainly Christian, as a result of missionary work and British colonial rule. Why don't you relax in Nairobi for a day or so instead of rushing into the countryside.... soak it up :)
