Hello everybody, | ||
Application for a work permit has to done at the embassy in your home country (as far as I know). The rules changed recently and its a difficult process from what I hear. Coming as tourist and getting some under the table work might be easier. Either way getting a job is going to be difficult way so plan on not having an income if you don't line up something beforehand. | 1

I don't know much about the mechanics of working in South Africa but am aware that it has a massive unemployment rate which suggests that a) work will be very hard to find and b) you will be competing against a lot of other people for work which suggests pretty low wages, unless you have special skills in the wine industry that are greatly in demand. Thinking a bit laterally, if it's wine rather than Africa specifically you are interested in, what about Australia. Much easier to get a working holiday visa, lots of vinyards and they do employ quite a lot of seasonal workers at presumably rather higher pay rates. | 3
I'm more interested in South-Africa than in wine. | 4

You will find it almost impossible to get work without a work permit so don't bank on this being your income. Upon entry to SA you need to prove you have enough funds to support your visit. | 7
