Where do I find the "TODAY" option?

Hi guys,
still tryin' to understand who this damn' forum works, now. Do you know where the "TODAY" option is? Was it deleted? How do you get the same info on the threads you want to check immediately?

But mostly, why did they have to make things so much worse? I tried to get some answers inside the TT branch, but I only found HUNDREDS of people angry with the new system installed.

There isn't one now as such. But if you click on your "Profile" you'll find a few of the posts you've made at the bottom of the page.

Thanks, man. I am still trying to figure out the reason they changed this forum so much for the worse. Everybody seems to be unhappy with their new baby born. Si, if I want to see an extended list of my posts like I was used to in the "today" option, that's not possible anymore, is it? I understand that in order for me to find the threads I create / reply to, I need to go back to the branch and check then manually.

But how do I know if somebody has answered my post?

I guess I just have to suck it up.

Cresti - I've been busy with work for the last many weeks. Just found the "improved" Thorntree - wow, this really sucks! Its not intuitive, the page is incredibly busy, etc. This is the kind of thing that would cost someone their job at many companies. It'll be interesting to see if they respond to all the criticism. Hope you see this post!

This new TT hurts my eyes. And terribly not user friendly. I don't even know how I can write to the mods!

Let's hope they'll get back to the old one (and okay, keep your ads if so you wish...)

Why do 'improvements' to websites always mean trying to cram as much on to one site as possible. The best sites are the simple ones!

I just feel better knowing that Carol, the Community Site Producer of Lonely Planet has let everybody know that important changes will be made (just check down to the forum branch, in which she lists all the improvements they will try to gradually install in the next few days). But it's just frustrating that such a good forum can be made so much worse. In my opinion the following functions remain the most important options for every user, and I hope they keep their word on re-installing them as soon as possible.

1. The "TODAY" button.
2. Keep the threads in order by when they were posted, not by popularity. (Users should be able to view posts either by most recent or just newest topic first. Right now posts which get replies move to the top and it is very difficult to navigate)
3. Number each response to a thread.
4. When returning to threads list, after adding to or reading a thread, you are not returned to the same point in the branch as you left it previously, as you were in TT3. This is another colossal waste of time and discourages anybody from spending time on the forum.

The current design is a very strong worsening. I would suggest a return to the previous user interface, adding all the stupid advertisements they need and network upgrades that they feel necessary. With the "new" TT4 they have thrown out what worked well in order to solve the parts that were not working well. It was a wonderful forum… why making so much worse? The BBC should be ashamed for ruining the best travel forum on the Internet. Why change something that works perfectly???

Because they wanted to cram each page full of advertising? That's the best I can come up with.

I started the same thread yesterday, where is the Today page (or an equivalent feature). I think you have to go to Profile and My Watches, but it's not the same--not the same!

As many people pointed out on my thread, the system is now incredibly slow (because of the all the advertising images), and won't be efficient if you're in a cyber cafe in the middle of nowhere trying to figure out if some border crossing is "really" open or not. The site just won't be used that way anymore; it'll be more about selling LP books, not getting spur of the moment information.

They put their own ads at the moment. It's most likely they will put other companies ads very soon. There're so much space on the right, it's pity not using all this! At least when I reply to a thread, there's no ad, but neither the other replies. GRRRR

Hello everyone - I was not aware (in advance) of the propsed changes. I thought that I had logged on to phoney site. The best I can describe it as is " a dog's breakfast". As for the BLOODY ADDS - please please give rid of them.

I imagine the space at the right will eventually be filled with ads. It's mostly LP now, but there's already an ad for Delta.
