Weather in jan-aprCountry forums / Africa / Namibia
I'm planning at trip to Namibia, Botswana and Zambia in januari to april. Have checked the weather in the Lp and the words "Wet season", "stormy period" and "hot" comes up alarmingly often. So how bad is it? Are there monsun rains that flushes away roads or just occasional rains? And how hot is it? Is it still worth going there or should I do the trip at a different time?
Ok for Namibia in Jan/Feb you can easily reach the 40's inland. We don't get monsoons, you do get afternoon rains but it really isn't that much and is actually a very welcome release. Some roads especially in Damaraland and Kaokoland can get washed over by rivers, but you just have to wait a while till it subsides. If you are in a 2x4 vehicle then I wouldn't put Kaokoland on your itinerary for that time of year as it can be pretty hard going. | 1
