| tomwilson14:56 UTC14 Aug 2007 | ok so im going to kenya in two weeks only found out a few weeks ago so been hurry round, so its kinda to late to get my visa (remote australia, 3 days postage each way, 1-5 day proccessing) so im guessing i will have to get a visa on arrival, so just a couple of questions.
1: how strict is immigration, i plan to dress smart casual (button up shirt, clean jeans, clean skate shoes), and i will have the proof of funds, but they can still refuse my entry if they want, so is there anything else i can do to get the visa?
2: at the moment my tickets say im leaving kenya at 3 and a half months, as the visa only run for three months and i was planing on getting an extention. i was wondering if this would be much of a problem?
3: am i just being paranoid?

I've been through this airport a dozen times and they've never asked me for proof of onward travel. I've also put on my visa app that I would me staying in the country for longer than 3 months and they never blinked an eye. Basically, they only give out one kind of visa at the airport (3 month tourist) and as long as you have $50, they'll give it to you. You will however, have to renew your visa at the immigration office (an ordeal) before it expires. This costs about $30 (payable in shillings) and requires two passport photos and your fingerprints (they supply the ink). Count on the process taking at least half a day.

| rfeiler20:48 UTC16 Aug 2007 | Vias on arrival is no problem, make sure you have USD $50, they won't accept shillings Re-newing your visa for an extra 3 months is ok but now the are strict on regerstering as an alien hence the finger prints and photos.
