Visa from Egypt Embassy?Country forums / Africa / Egypt
Has anyone ever gotten a visa from the Egyptian embassy in Washington DC? We live in Virgina and were hoping to get a visa from the embassy in DC before our trip in December. Every time I call, the main receptionist puts me through to the visa section, and noone ever answers. I left a voicemail which never got returned. Very frustrating.
You don't need photos. Yes, it's still $15 and the 'visa' is 2 stamps - literally. They're about the size of postage stamps. You pay the $15 (in US currency), are given the stamps, then you stick them on any available page of your passport. It is really much, much easier to just get the visa in Cairo. It took me less than 10mins each time and that included waiting on line. Be sure to go to the booths for the visas. DON'T get on the customs line. I think the visa line is actually pretty short when the flights land because people stand on the Customs line first before realizing they need to first get the visa, THEN go through Customs. | 1
It is my understanding, though, that if you are wanting a multiple entry visa you will have to get that in your home country (region) prior to arriving in Cairo? | 2
Yep, previous threads said you get could get it from the Mogamma in Cairo, but the consensus seems to be to either get the multiple entry before you come, or just get another single entry upon re-entering. | 3
Only US dollars, nothing else? Sterling, euros? | 4
I have paid in EUR before. | 5
You can pay in EUR and Sterling. I mentioned dollars (vs. Egyptian pound) because the OP is from the US and was asking about the price in dollars. | 6

OK, thanks, #5 and #6. Just checking. | 8
multiple entry visas are available at the mogamma, but going there is a huge pain in the ass. | 9
