Tsingy vs. Isalo and Andringitra vs. Ranomafana

Country forums / Africa / Madagascar

My wife and I will be traveling in Madagascar in late September and October and are working on our itinerary; the trip begins Sept. 26 and we fly to Johannesburg Oct. 12. Right now we are considering adding a 2-day excursion to Parc Tsingy de Bemaraha at the end of a 6-day Tsiribihina river trip. This means added cost of course, and two less days to see central Madagascar and thus likely missing Isalo National Park. Does anyone have any opinions on which Park is more worthwhile, and if the scrambling and rope bridges in Tsingy are a bit much for someone with a mild fear of heights and swinging bridges?

We are also debating whether to see Parc Ranomafana or Parc d'Andringitra (either way we want to see Anja Reserve and Ambalavao). Any opinions out there on the merits of one over the others (such as better landscape vs. better wildlife viewing)?

Finally, the email address in LP for the guide Adrien who leads tours in d'Andringitra is not working; does anyone have an alternate one?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello,
For the river trip is about 08 days from Tana to Morondava at least and i wnt to tell you if you are adventure people the tsingy park is more interresting and about the hanging bridges it's not risky because each person has belt security and it's 20 m for the length
For the Ranomafana park is in east area so it's means rain forest anyway i think this time is not too much rain there , when we went to Andringitra park we hve organised from Tana so i think that's make sure you have to orgnised from tana if you want drivto explore the park.
I would to recommand you s freelance guide who can organise your tour if you like so thios is his adress:fihlusko07@hotmail.com
Have good luck!
Ken
