Travelling from Seychelles to Madagascar by boat or air or any other way

Country forums / Africa / Madagascar

Hello guys,

I will be travelling to Madagascar June 2015 and I am currently checking out my best options. I have found some cheap flights to Seychelles and was thinking to fly there and work my way to my ultimate destination. Ideally it would be to fly, but as the tickets from all airlines are very expensive, I was thinking of trying with a boat.

I've read some blogs and articles, talking about travelling with cargo ships or finding work in yaugts etc, but this even if these information were credible, they are old and updated. Plus I will only have approx 3 weeks for this trip and wouldn't want to spent a week in the port waiting in vain.

Has anybody done this kind of trip lately? Got any recommendations to make? Would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Savas

Air Seychelles flies 3 times a week (Mon, Wed, Fri) from Seychelles to Mauritius. From Mauritius, "Mauritius Trochetia" sails every approximately every 15 days to Tamatave, Madagascar via Reunion Islands.

Thanks for the reply, I am aware of this option, but unfortunately to fly to Mauritius is almost as expensive as flying to Madagascar directly.
I have now found some great flight deals from London that include Seychelles PLUS Madagascar flights at 600 euro. I will book soon ;)

Could you please share a link to those flight deals? That would be very useful information for forum members to have...

AIR TRANSPORT: as of December 2014, the Air Seychelles airline will launch direct flights between Antananarivo to Mahe, Seychelles' capital, with two weekly flights scheduled every Tuesday and Thursday.
