Travel Buddies Wanted, esp women (but not only)

Country forums / Africa / Morocco

Hello, any1 looking for travel buddies here? I'm a 27 yr old experienced backpacker who is travelling on a budget - so cheapy guesthouses only for me i'm afraid! (but the cheaper, the more fun!) I'd like to meet more backpackers. I am from Manchester but live and study in Amsterdam. I am here until the 30th May, and have so far been to Casablanca, Marrakech and am now in Essouera, moving to Agadir in the morning. I would like to see as mich as possible while i'm here, and like to get off the beaten track where possible, but not alone. I speak basic french, obviously very useful here, English and a bit of Spanish. My very rough plan is to go south a little, then make a loop up through the country to Ouarzazate, including tattiouine, fes, maybe the Atlas, Volubilis, Ketama and Chefchaouen, & poss the Mediterranian coast. I'm open to the idea of trekking and like to meet the locals. Anyone out there? :o)

Not a travel buddy, but here's a tip: Don't go to Ketama. That's got to be the most warned-against place in Morocco. It's the site of nearly every hashish-planting ploy on tourists.

Yeah, i kinds worked that out now. The fact the guide books list only one 'reasonable' hotel, which they even say is overpriced and dirty, has pretty much put me off that one. The name and dubious reputation make it seem attractive as a place to view, but i've decided not to bother. Thanx anyway :o)
