TRAVEL BUDDIES FOR MADAGASCAR?

I am looking at about a month or so trip around Madagascar starting in April. I would like to hire a vehicle and driver for a good part of the trip and thus looking for likeminded people who are interested to share costs. My idea is not to have the driver cut you off from the communication with the people, that forms the highlight of many trips, but to assist where needed. We would pick up guides where required en route for various activities (trekking, canoeing), but only those who are really knowledgeable and actually add something useful. The aim is to see the natural wonders of this island, as well as the human side. I have not worked out an itinerary as I am flexible here on detail and timing. Some air transfer would be beneficial in opening up more areas of Madagascar to us, as well as cutting down on some transfer time. I am not fussy re accommodation and as this is ‘travel’ and not sitting on a beach, the hotels are not a great integral part of the trip for me.

I'm a 37 year old female from upstate NY, traveling with one of my best friends; my mother! I'm inviting others, but no confirmations yet. We are planning on going in the fall of 2015 though, as it is the best time of year there, and allows more time for research/planning and my attempt to learn French (finally). If your plans end up delayed, please let me know!
