Three week in CI and Ghana, itinerary feasible?Country forums / Africa
Heading to CI and Ghana in 10 days. Is Abidjan - Niofoin - Mole - (Kumasi) - Accra - Abidjan loop feasible to do in 3 weeks? But I find it difficult to find any info regarding the transport from Mole to Niofoin. Any advice and experiences appreciated. Or if there're any less remote villages to recommend, also feel free to add. Joy
First off, how are you planning to get up to Niofoin? It's going to be a long 8-10 trip up to Korhogo on a bus then local massa from there or a private car would speed things up a little and make life more pleasant if it's in your budget. From that area the roads to the eastern border are very difficult, you will need to return to Bouake and get a massa to Agnibilekro. In Agnibilekro you will have to get a seat in a shared taxi to the border at Tatiekro (Gonnokrom on the Ghanaian side) which leads you to Dormaa Ahenkro where there's a great place to stay, Petit Paris. Typically a whole taxi to yourself from Agnibilekro to Tatiekro will cost 10,000CFA with a bit of negotiation, I know that road very, very well and it's a complete nightmare!!! From Dormaa it'll be a 4h trip up to Tamale via a shared taxi to Sunyani then a tro-tro or MMT bus. The mosque at Larabanga is another sore point, you are harassed endlessly there ... it's one I keep away from! You should be able to do the whole trip in 3 weeks without an issue! Bonne route Kira | 1
It's not difficult to combine Mole NP and Larabanga mosque but as indicated by kira, it will not be the more relaxing place of the trip. Michel | 2
Kumasi is a very good hub but the city remains very chaotic and, in my point of view, not a highlight... Michel | 3

Thanks a lot for all the detailed info, Kira! I think I'll keep the route for now unless I discover some other villages instead of Niofoin. I'm also considering maybe take a flight from Abidjan to Korhogo even. | 5
Thanks for the advice, yea, I might skip Kumasi in this case. | 6
I wouldn't totally skip Kumasi, there's actually a lot to do and see there ... A good stopping point as you're heading to Accra for a night! Not sure what else you want to see in Ghana or CI but you could also head back to CI from Kumasi via Debiso and spend a night or two in Bia National Park which is stunning and rarely visited by tourists! PM me if you want more details Kira | 7
Can I ask why in particular you're fixated with Niofoin? The village is predominantly Sénoufo I believe but there are others around, is it the Sénoufo culture that draws your interest or??? If you've got a decent budget and can afford an internal flight I can think of other places to see and get around!!! Kira | 8
