Sleeping Bag QuestionCountry forums / Africa / Tanzania
This is a question for people who have done a safari during July and/or August. Can I get away with a summer sleeping bag? I think it is good for temperatures down to 10-15 degrees Calcius. Is that too light for the nights or will I be warm enough? I don't want to carry something heavy if I don't have to. Thanks.
Depends on where you are going. It will be fine for elevations below 2000 meters. If you are just visiting areas below 2000 meters or so, I wouldn't worry about getting another one. | 1
It depends on how sensitive you are to cold too. I had a bag that was rated for 0 celcius and that was good for me in July in Kenya, but I get cold easily. | 2
I used my 15 F bag, my summer bag. It was fine. In fact, I was hot! | 3
Unless you're hiking kili, you should be allright with a summer sleeping bag. I was really hot even with a summer s.b. | 4
If you're planning to camp at Ngorongoro I would suggest a warmer sleeping bag. Gets very cold there this time of year. | 5
