Public transport Lusaka to LIvingstone/Vic Falls

Country forums / Africa / Zambia

Hi all

I'm after the latest information about public transport between Lusaka and Vic Falls. Ideally we'd be after ovenight travel. I gather from a post in 2009 that hte RSZ train service was cancelled - has this been reinstated? If not, are there any overnight bus trips between the two towns?

Appreciate your input,
Thanks

There's loads of buses during the day, I'm not sure I'd want to travel overnight on a bus in Africa, they drive like nutters and often the roads are in a bit of a state. I think if there is a train, which I'm not sure about, it takes about twice as long as the bus.

I was staying in L'Stone from 2008 to 2009, and the best bus company was said to be Mazhandu, they leave on time and drive safely. I did not have any bad experiences with them.

I wouldnt take the overnight bus, there are a ton of buses running the route in the day, most are set to leave at 6am though usually get going at 7-8ish. Get there at six and you will be fine
