Opuwo to Windhoek Drive TimeCountry forums / Africa / Namibia
We are finalizing our itinerary for our trip to Namibia in July/August and the last decision is based around driving from Opuwo to Windhoek the day before our flight out. Can someone tell me about what the driving time for this route is? I am trying to decide if it is doable in one day or if we need to break it into two days. In addition to the straight driving time we will have to detour to the village my daughter is working in to drop her off so I have to factor that in. Thanks,
Stan Much may depend on which route you take. If you head east from Opuwo, pick up the main highway and head south on the tar, then I would say that you could make Windhoek easily enough, assuming you get off early in the morning. If instead you take the more scenic route on the gravel via Sesfontein and either Kamajab or Khorixas (and it is much, much more scenic...) then I would say no, you would need to break your journey overnight somewhere. The good news is that there are plenty of places on that route where you could stay: you would not be short of choices. | 1
Boomslang, Thank you so much. I think with this advice we have decided to head south a day early so we have two days driving back. My daughter kind of lives off the road through Omaruru so I think we will break the trip in that area. Stan | 2
