Nkasa Lupala NP (Mamili) now accesible!

Country forums / Africa / Namibia

Thanks to new steel bridges, now the park recently renamed Nkasa Lupala is now accessible after many years of difficulties to get in.

Nkasa Lupala National Park (Mamili)is wild! Perhaps that is why it is seldom visited. This adventurous watery wonderland of wildlife rich islands, river channels and wetlands, mirrors Botswana's Okavango Delta. Mamili holds the distinction of being the largest wetland area with conservation status in Namibia. In turn it protects flora and fauna living within a complex channel of reed beds, lakes and islands, that form the Linyanti swamps. The focal point of the 320km² national park are Nkasa and Lupala, two large islands in the Kwando/Linyati River systems.

The park in bordering 3 conservancies, and Wuparo conservancy that is where the road to the park is has a JV tented lodge with a private investor. The lodge name is Nkasa Lupala tented lodge .
The conservancy also has a good campsite. Rupara Campsite.

Elephants in great numbers, big heard of buffaloes and also black mane lions can be found in the park.
Lechwe, Reedbucks and Sitatunga are common also common here.

The park is 80km from Kongola, 135 from Katima Mulilo, 250 from Kasane and 320 from Victoria Falls.

I'ts a paradise!
