Hi. I'm travelling as single female all the way down from Nigeria to Namibia using local transport. If you drive or ride a vehicle theres lots of info but not much for us trying to do it on local transport. If you have done this i would love to hear from you. Im in Cameroon at the moment. Ive heard that theres no tranport between Gabon and Republic of Congo. Anyone tried it lately? Or crossed directly from Cameroon to Congo via Queso, on local transport?
FYI things are a little tense here in western english speaking part of Cameroon right now- Buea, Limbe area. Separitists fighting government - safe in day, stay indoors at night. Im in Buea and hear gunshots every night. Ill be out of here as soon as election results are announced tomorrow- providing theres no trouble that is!

Please just be very safe and there is alot of dangerous unrest in the Southern Cameroon Anglophone Cameroon for a long time before the Election in Cameroon now.
Republic of Congo is a dangerous war torn country and no go area for foreign tourists now. The major tourist attraction had been closed down due to kidnappings and killings of many foreign tourists visit to the Virunga National Park.
Have a safe and wonderful weekend in Cameroon.

Some parts of Central African Republic are definitely unsafe now, but I wanted to point out that Virunga National Park is NOT in the Republic of Congo, it's in DRC, which is a completely different country.

Thanks Alex. I did not end up going through Lagos. I went the slightly northern route through Abeokuta, Ibadan etc. And yes, there is unrest here in Anglophone Cameroon. And as the following post pointed out RoC and DRC are two different Congos. I wont be going anywhere near the trouble in DRC but will experience Kinshasa.

I'm still hoping to hear from another traveller who has crossed that Gabon RoC border or who has any info that could help me out. Hope you are enjoying life in Lagos.
