Murchison or Queen Elizabeth

Country forums / Africa / Uganda

Greetings! I will be in Uganda most of November, but with probably only enough time for one park - either Murchison Falls or Queen Elizabeth. I especially like elephants, giraffes, and hippos. In which park am I likely to see the most of these? Any difference in the entry fees? And, is the rainy season short hard rainfall & then the sun comes out, or all day drenchings? Thanks a lot.

I think I would also go for Murchison Falls. For a couple of reasons....the falls are furiously good and I liked the boat trip on the river. There were lots of birds and we saw elephant and a hippo we thought was giving birth but later think it was just a massive injury. Red Chili organizes a good trip and they also include an opportunity to track chimps. Have a great time! You will love Uganda.

Murchison has the falls - impressive indeed and slightly more fauna. Giraffes are absent in QE, but the boat trip on the Kazinga Channel in the afternoon brings you far closer to hippo, buffalo, other animals and a host of birds and even the odd primate, while game drives in the park afford slightly higher chance of spotting felines. Elephants seen in both.
Rains - not of the torrential downpour all day variety at this time of year.

I would prefer Murchsion falls National park, for more help regarding trip arrangement, please drop me an Email at richard@tamanitours.com.

Many thanks to all who helped me out - Murchson Falls it is! And especially thanks for the eclipse information - I hadn't heard about it. All best to the ThornTree Community!
