Mt Kenya: Hiring a guide?Country forums / Africa / Kenya
Hi Will it be possible to only hire a guide? Will he provide and carry his own equipment? Or will hiring a guide automaticly mean to also hire porters and a cook? And where and how will we find a good one? Thanks Edited by: Nordmann Edited by: Nordmann
You could hire a guide and no porters if you're willing to carry a full load, but a porter or two don't cost much more. I can highly recommend my guide, John Mukuruma. Contact him at +254720559948 or at his Facebook page: | 1
Hi, If you are in good shape, I would recommend trying the 'Peak Circuit' which is a long day of hiking passing one great scenery after another, while hiking around the top of the mountain. It may be possible for you to find your way without a guide, but I (and I do have some experience) would not have been comfortable doing that. For inspiration, visit my facebook album: I was also guided by John Mukuruma and found that he was really good. As Christopher writes, his facebook is: Regards, | 2
Mukuruma John is a good guide for sure, but however would you like to try a different experience? Try an experienced woman quide, its amazing! link up https://www.facebook.com/TravelingCate | 3

We had an amazing 8-day trekk with John on Mt Kenya! Seriously if you are looking for a reliable, knowledgebale and nice to be with guide: go with John! And it's fun too! :-). We were very impressed how reliable he was, how well everything was organized and especially how on time he was. He has been more on schedule as we were. And we are Germans ;-). More information here: http://www.mountkenyaguide.com or via Facebook: John Mukuruma Ndichu. | 7
