maputo to punto doro and punto doro to st luciaCountry forums / Africa / Mozambique
Trying to find out how to get from maputo to puento doro by any means are there any buses any tips on how to them move onto stlucia is it possible to get transport from the border. any help or any suggestions greatly appreciated Edited by: thegazelle
No easy way to get there except by either going through Swaziland or around the west of Swaziland. Only other option is to try and hitch a ride with someone going via the short cut (sand road through the Maputo Elephant Reserve which takes about 6-7 hours from Maputo to Ponto d'ouro) and that road is not heavily traveled. | 1
It is a shocking road through the Maputo Elephant Reserve- 4X4 only and there won't be any public buses. However, the last time this question was asked someone posted this link http://www.kaya-kweru.co.za/index.php?component=ddb&operation=page&page=11 to a backpackers that apparently offers transfers for 250R pp from Maputo, and has advice on how to travel onward into SA. Might be worth looking into. | 2
theres chapas or local transport that leaves most mornings isnt there. i know they dont leave on public holidays. i hitched a lift from ponta to maputo on a massive 4x4 truck as it was a public holiday .on the way back i made sure i was on the first car ferry that crosses the river from maputo side and actually happened to get a lift from a bloke in a bakkie who i chatted to on the car ferry. find out what times the first ferry leaves then go wait there and try your luck. i booked a cab there from my backpacker happy travelling | 3
