Lamu for a honeymoon

If you are to spend yr honeymoon in Lamu….where would you stay?

Do a search for Lamu House, there some great houses with staff near Shella for rent.

Peponi's is absolutely beautiful. I though both Manda Bay and Kipungani were too isolated - although great for a couple of days. Peponi's is a bit of a Lamu institution right on Shella Beach, very friendly and helpful staff, fantastic food, good wine list and fabulous rooms. They'll take you boating, fishing, snorkelling etc, cook you lunches on deserted beaches but you're still close enough to explore Lamu Town and socialise a bit.

If you have money, you should try to rent a room in one of the private houses which work as bed and breakfast. Banana House in Shela is a good example, and you should be able to find other houses in any guidebook.

Would advise you to go to Shela, 5 minutes from the beach, rather than to Lamu Town which is dirtier and less romantic.
